Converting QuarkXPress Documents to Web Pages: Overview

BeyondPress provides a streamlined method for converting the text and image elements of QuarkXPress documents to HTML files. You can also add multimedia to Web pages. Conversion Mode is a list-oriented mode, where you specify which text chains (or parts of text chains) and picture elements from your printed document you want to include on your Web page and which you do not. Conversion mode allows you to create a new layout for your Web page without changing your print-ready documents in any way. Conversion mode also allows you to combine multiple QuarkXPress pages into a single Web page, without physically reformatting the QuarkXPress pages.

By manipulating the elements in the list, you specify precisely what is exported to HTML and how it should look on the Web page.

In Conversion Mode, BeyondPress lets you:

  • Select and rearrange QuarkXPress items.
  • Add multimedia files.
  • Automatically anchor images in text.
  • Add custom HTML items.
  • Create links.
  • Apply styles to text and images.
  • Convert text to image.

Using BeyondPress Preferences
, you can:

  • Establish default formatting for text, images, media files, tables, and lists.
  • Use Cascading Style Sheets and Bitstream's TrueDoc font technology to retain fonts, typography, and paragraph styles.
  • Format Web pages with a header, footer, and background image and/or color.
  • Add new HTML styles and map QuarkXPress style sheets to them.
  • Manage your image, multimedia, and TrueDoc font folders and files.
