Layout Considerations

BeyondPress approximates the layout of QuarkXPress documents using HTML tables. Because of the limitations of HTML, some layouts cannot be exactly reproduced.

Before you begin converting QuarkXPress documents to Web pages, keep the following in mind:

Items cannot overlap in a QuarkXPress document since there is no overlapping text/image/line equivalent in HTML. If you overlap text, image and/or lines and try to export, you will get a warning message in the Export dialog box.

Images cannot overlap images. BeyondPress converts overlapping images into a single image. To avoid this, keep picture boxes separate.

Images cannot overlap text in HTML. BeyondPress anchors overlapping images.

Text cannot overlap images. BeyondPress converts text that overlaps an image into an image. This might work if you're placing text on a small navigational button, but unwise if you're placing a long section of body copy over an image.
