Overriding Style Sheet Mapping

BeyondPress maps all the text in the Content List to an HTML style according to the Mapping Preferences you specify. If you don't use style sheets, BeyondPress uses any Font Size Mapping information that applies. If no Font Size applies, then the text is displayed in the browser's default style with BeyondPress default text formatting.

Using the Document Content palette, you can apply a style to text that is mapped to Default or override the current mapping.

To override style sheet mapping for a text element

1 Select a Text Chain TxtChain, Anchored Text (seen as an indented Text Chain in the Content List), Text Segment TxtRange, or Text Range AnchorTxt in the Content List.

2 Click the HTML pop-up menu.

3 Choose an HTML style from the lower portion of the list. All the HTML styles defined in Master Styles Preferences are available.

All the text in the text element will be exported with the new HTML style.

To override style sheet mapping for a text selection

You can isolate a range of text within a listed Text Chain so you can style it differently.

1 Highlight the text in the QuarkXPress document.

2 Click Add Text LDocBtn. If the text box wasn't already in the Content List, the entire contents of the box is listed as a Text Chain TxtChain.

The range of text you highlighted is displayed as a Text Range AnchorTxt under the parent Text Chain.

3 Click the HTML pop-up menu and choose any option.

Applying HTML styles with a keyboard command

You can perform the three steps for overriding style sheet mapping for a text selection using a keyboard command. Highlight the text in the QuarkXPress document and press F14 (on an Apple extended keyboard). Select a style from the list and click OK to apply it.

Tip: You can apply styles to text without ever touching the mouse. Combine the Command and Shift keys with the arrow keys to select ranges of text, then press F14. Type the first few letters of the style you want, then click OK.

Converting Text to an Image

You can convert any Text Chain to an image to maintain the typography and box background. Choose As Image from the HTML pop-up menu next to any Text Chain TxtChain. See Converting Text to an Image for more information.
